Striking-distance keywords

The searches you almost win, ranked by the clicks at stake

Queries where your site sits just below the top three are the cheapest traffic you can get: Google already thinks the page is relevant. Your AI reads your Search Console data, finds them, ranks them by how many clicks moving up would bring, and tells you what to change on each page.

Works with Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT and Cursor.

How your AI does it

  1. STEP 1

    Connect Search Console

Sign up free, connect Google read-only and pick your property. Add the AskYourStack address to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor.

  2. STEP 2

    One call finds them

gsc_opportunities reads the last 28 days and returns the queries at average position 5 to 20 with real impressions, the page that ranks for each, and the clicks it would get at position 3.

  3. STEP 3

    Your AI reads the pages

For the top ones it reads the ranking page and checks whether the query is answered in the title, the main heading and the opening, and which of your pages should link to it.

  4. STEP 4

    You get the changes

A table of queries and pages, then the edits per page. On a server plan your AI can make the changes itself, with your approval.

What you get

  • Queries at average position 5 to 20 with enough impressions to matter
  • The page that ranks for each one
  • Clicks at stake, so the list is in the right order
  • Brand searches left out
  • What to change on the page and which pages should link to it
  • All 16 months of Search Console history for comparisons

Start with this prompt

Paste it into your AI with AskYourStack connected. It fetches the matching playbook and explains its plan before changing anything.

Using AskYourStack, find the queries where <domain> ranks just off the top places and tell me how to push them up. Call gsc_opportunities (last 28 days) and take its striking_distance list. For the five with the most clicks at stake, read the ranking page with page_content and page_audit, check whether the query is answered in the title, h1 and first paragraph, and list two or three internal pages that should link to it with the query as anchor text. Give me a table first (query, page, position, impressions, clicks at stake), then the changes per page. Change nothing.

Questions

What is a striking-distance keyword?

A search where your page already ranks on page one or two but below the top three. Small improvements move it up, and the top three positions get most of the clicks.

How is clicks at stake worked out?

From typical click-through rates by position: the clicks the query would get at position 3, minus what it gets now. It is a way to order the work, not a forecast.

Does it need a server?

No. It needs Search Console connected. A server plan lets your AI also make the changes on the site.
