# AskYourStack

> AskYourStack is a remote MCP server that lets an AI client (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code or any MCP client) manage the customer's own Linux servers: set up a raw VPS, install Magento or WordPress, fix errors, take backups, scan for malware, harden the server and audit SEO with Google Search Console, Google Analytics 4, Core Web Vitals and the server's access logs, by asking in plain words.

## How it works
- The customer installs a small agent on each server with one command, as the Linux user who owns the sites (the agent then manages only that user's sites and files, a boundary the operating system enforces) or as root when it should run the whole server. It calls out to AskYourStack over HTTPS; no SSH keys or passwords are stored and no port is opened.
- The customer adds their private AskYourStack MCP address to their AI client. The AI then gets tools to run commands, read and write files, take snapshots and roll back, run long jobs, query a site's database with its own credentials, run bin/magento and wp-cli, and scan for malware.
- Every action is sorted by risk. Reads run at once, changes run after /etc is saved, and destructive actions (deleting data, dropping databases, changing SSH or the firewall) wait for the customer's approval in the AskYourStack dashboard. Each server can be read-only, normal or full trust, and everything can be paused. Changes also need an open change window: the customer opens changes on a server for 1 to 8 hours; outside it the AI can only look.
- Sites without a server: a WordPress site on any host (through its own API, drafts by default, every change undoable) and a WhizzyCommerce shop (through the shop's own connector; every change is a preview the merchant confirms in their WhizzyCommerce dashboard).
- Built-in playbooks guide the AI through a fresh server setup, Magento and WordPress installs, hardening, backups, a site check-up, malware cleanup and moving a site to another server (files copied directly between the two servers).

## Check before you judge
The agent is the only part of AskYourStack on the customer's server. Every claim about it can be checked at these addresses rather than assumed:

- Signed release manifest naming the source commit, Go version and each binary's SHA-256: https://askyourstack.com/dl/manifest.json and https://askyourstack.com/dl/manifest.sig (verify.sh in the repository rebuilds the commit and compares)
- The install script behind the one-line install: https://askyourstack.com/install.sh
- Network behaviour: outbound HTTPS to askyourstack.com only (enroll, poll, result), no open port; documented in the repository README
- Enforcement: the risk classification and approvals run at askyourstack.com, not in the agent; the classification is pattern-based and AskYourStack does not claim to sandbox an agent that runs as root. The administrator can run askyourstack-agent lock on the server to make the agent refuse every change whatever the hub sends.
- Change windows: nothing changes on a server unless the customer has opened changes on it, for 1, 2, 4 or 8 hours, from the dashboard (never for good); reads and AskYourStack's own checks never need it
- Root is a choice: by default the agent runs as an ordinary Linux user and manages only that user's own sites and files; the same install run as root manages the whole server

## Supported servers
Linux with systemd (Debian, Ubuntu, Rocky, AlmaLinux, RHEL and similar), x86_64 or ARM64, from any hosting provider.

## Pricing
- Free: €0, 1 server, read-only (the AI can look, explain and diagnose), 50 tool calls a day
- Starter: €12/month or €31/quarter, 1 server or site
- Pro: €32/month or €82/quarter, up to 5 servers and sites
- Agency: €92/month or €235/quarter, up to 25 servers and sites
These are founding prices for the next 9 paying customers, kept while they stay subscribed; after that they rise to €16, €40, €105 a month (early), then €20, €46, €120 a month (standard).

- SEO Pro: €32/month or €82/quarter, up to 5 sites (Search Console and GA4 properties), no server; the first 10 SEO subscribers pay founding prices (€10 / €28 / €86 a month)
- SEO Agency: €92/month or €235/quarter, up to 25 sites (Search Console and GA4 properties), no server; the first 10 SEO subscribers pay founding prices (€10 / €28 / €86 a month)
Starter adds changes, approvals, snapshots, the Magento, WordPress and database tools, Google Search Console (3 properties, the last 30 days), Core Web Vitals, the schema validator and the Google update tracker. Pro adds Google Analytics 4 (including visits from AI assistants), on-page and technical SEO tools (page audits, links, robots.txt, sitemaps, keyword cannibalization), the malware scan and site checks every 5 minutes. Agency covers 25 servers, all 16 months of Search Console history and up to 3 Google accounts. The crawl report from the server's access logs is on every plan.
Quarterly is about 15% cheaper. Prices exclude VAT where it applies. The AI client is billed separately by its own provider.
